Dogs have a natural instinct to chew, but many traditional chew toys are made from extremely hard synthetic materials like nylon that can be tough on teeth and rely on petroleum-based plastics.
BetterBone offers a different approach by using plant-derived materials to create a durable chew that satisfies dogs’ natural chewing instincts while avoiding many of the synthetic ingredients commonly found in conventional dog chew toys.
The material is made using PEFC-certified sustainably forested wood flour and renewable sugarcane oil, creating a plant-based chew designed to gradually wear down instead of splintering during chewing. The textured surface also helps stimulate gums and support dental health.
The Hard BetterBone is designed for dogs that need a tougher chewing challenge, including strong chewers and larger breeds that tend to wear down typical chew toys quickly.

I have two dogs. One is a Cattledog mix and the other is a Labsky. They are BOTH very aggressive chewers. We usually give them chew toys for aggressive chewers or antlers to chew on, but even with the denser ones, they chip pieces off of the the antlers, and the toys get torn apart over time. This "bone" is different. We chose the hard ones, and they can only scratch the surface on it, but they just keep on trying. This thing will last forever, and the dogs can't away from it. Every day, they want to give another try!

When the bone first arrived and I gave it to Bella she didn’t appear too interested in it. I thought I had wasted my money. A few hours later she got the bone of her toy box and started chewing on it. Now she chews on it several times every day and seems to enjoy her new bone. I’m glad she likes it because the Nylabones get rough and sharp after a dog chews on them. I was afraid she would cut her gums on them.

Our new rescue (a 12lb. Maltese mix - about 1 1/2 yrs. old) LOVES to chew and went through just about every toy we bought her. She also tried to eat any stuffing, plastic or anything else she found inside her toys - which really concerned me. I was excited to find the BetterBone - knowing whatever she swallowed wouldn’t harm her. She initially chewed on it and seemed to enjoy it but quickly lost interest. I realized it was just too big and too heavy for her (even though I ordered the small size) so I got out a hacksaw (seriously it’s that hard!) and cut it into 3 pieces. She now loves it and carries it all around the house. Would love to see it in a smaller size!

We tossed the better bone into the kennel with our active chewer, and he gnawed on it for quite some time. It's relatively heavy and durable. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is I think if flavour was an option, it might be even more enticing to dogs!
So glad you loved it! Actually, the reason we don't offer any flavors is for sustainable purposes. The brand's beef offering doesn't fit our sustainable values since beef is the #1 food-related offender in terms of carbon emissions. We find pups love the unflavored bone, just as yours does, and we can all feel better about entertaining our dogs and protecting the planet one bone at a time.

You sell a good product by Better Bones for dogs. Perhaps package them with padding because the bones arrived broken. Also your shipping is very slow. I think i felt like I wasn’t going to receive my order. I think maybe took three weeks or more to receive them.

I've been looking for a hard bone-type toy for my 4-month-old Lagotto Romagnolo to chew on, and she loves these things. I bought a Mini and a Small because she's currently 19 lbs but growing fast, and she's been enjoying both sizes. I specifically searched for something for an aggressive chewer that was NOT nylon or antler or other type of bone because vets advise you to avoid those (and I had past issues with nylon bones). I highly recommend these!

My pup is an aggressive chewer, and her vet noticed some wear on her teeth from Nylabones. She advised me to find a softer alternative and this product is the one I found. Millie loves this bone!

Although my dog didn’t prefer this bone, it is definately well made and sturdy.
I got this for my new pup expecting lots of chewing. It wasn’t his favorite toy at first, but after about a week of offering it to him, he started to love it and has been going to town on it ever since. Seems very sturdy so far. Love that it’s all natural!

I got these bones because of concern that the dogs were ingesting splinters from the bones they had. Unfortunately they have not embraced these new bones yet. I’m still hoping they will learn to love them!
Hi Dina - I'm sorry to hear they aren't into the bones. It's rare, but it can happen since the bones are unflavored. Most pups love it, but some just don't dig it without a taste they know. You can try dipping it in peanut butter or a quick dip in broth to give it some flavor. See that goes.
My heavy chewers love their chew bones, and they seem to hold up.
Very happy with the level of customer service. Although sometimes technology doesn't work the way we need/expect it to - it's always nice to have a human on the other side to help you out.

My dogs are not interested at all in these. So disappointing because they are not cheap. I love the natural ingredients used, but the dogs don’t use them.
My dog really enjoys chewing on this toy and I love the fact it's lasted longer than a day. I know I'll be buying another one in the future once my dog wears this one out, but that might not be for a good while ;)

My 3 dogs love these. They are very small dogs but they are very aggressive chewers. These BetterBones are holding up well.
