Dogs have a natural instinct to chew, but many traditional chew toys are made from extremely hard synthetic materials like nylon that can be tough on teeth and rely on petroleum-based plastics.
BetterBone offers a different approach by using plant-derived materials to create a durable chew that satisfies dogs’ natural chewing instincts while avoiding many of the synthetic ingredients commonly found in conventional dog chew toys.
The material is made using PEFC-certified sustainably forested wood flour and renewable sugarcane oil, creating a plant-based chew designed to gradually wear down instead of splintering during chewing. The textured surface also helps stimulate gums and support dental health.
The Medium BetterBone offers a balanced chew for most adult dogs and moderate chewers. It provides more durability than the Soft version while still being gentler than many traditional nylon chew toys.

I don't remember how we found the Better Bones, but Reba loves them. She's a 30 lb Mini Aussie, so we order the medium strength y-bone and it keeps her chewing needs satisfied. Plus we feel great that she's not ingesting plastic!

I’m happy to have found a bone that isn’t terrible for my frenchie if he accidentally eats a piece. Love the ingredients and the medium bone is perfect density ! So glad I found these

My dog took to it immediately and it's been holding up very well. I never loved the idea of the nylon bones and basically feeding them microplastics, so I was so happy to find the BetterBone. I just wish they had a distributor near me that I could support. I've told my local pet store about Kind Pet, so we'll see.

My dog is a heavy chewer. I see him trying to chew on this every once in a while but it’s as hard as a rock and he just gives up after a minute or two. I'm afraid he’s going to break his teeth so I’m not crazy about it and neither is he.
Hi Cori - I'm so sorry to hear the bone is too hard for your dog. This is the medium density bone and is 10-20% softer than typical nylon bones. Perhaps your dog would be happier with the soft density bone.
My 9mo old Chihuahua Mix absolutely LOVES the medium chew toy!! He tears up all material toys in 5 minutes and gets the plastic squeaker out and tries to eat it, yikes! He literally eats the nylon bones, scary! So….I was looking for a safer alternative that would last more than 1 playtime. Found It!!! I’m so thankful you made these and have come to my rescue! Please make more toys!!

My dog loved this chew toy. We were so happy to find something that is not nylon, so we didn't have to worry about him ingesting microplastics or getting them all over the house.

My 5 month old puppy doesn't seem too interested in this chew, I'll try again when she's a little older.

Puppies can be picky about their chews, so it's always worth trying again when they're a bit older. The bones are purposely unflavored and for dogs that just love to chew that usually is just fine. But for those new to chewing or who really need a boost of flavor, you could try rubbing some peanut butter on the ends - I'm sure it would peak her interest.
Dog wouldn't touch it....had no flavor to entice her to chew on the bone.

Try spreading peanut butter on the end.
I’m incredibly sensitive to gluten. Does this chew contain any gluten or gluten-containing ingredients?
