Why would you put Eucalyptus in the flea spray?

Why would you put Eucalyptus in the flea spray it is Toxic to pets? I have looked it up and under no circumstance is it safe to apply to an animals coat. A copy and paste from my search. Eucalyptus is toxic to pets because it contains eucalyptol (1,8-cineole), a compound that dogs and especially cats lack the liver enzymes to safely metabolize. While some sources suggest eucalyptus might repel fleas, using it in pet flea sprays is dangerous because the oil can be absorbed through the skin, inhaled, or ingested during grooming, leading to severe poisoning.

Hello Lori - Thanks so much for your feedback and conscientious care of your fur family. Woof Creek honors that first and foremost: It is the core of why they started and do what they do, all for their own fur family and Pet Parent Community.

The formulations and ingredients used by Woof Creek's cofounder and formulator are integrative vet-guided, clinically based; your concern regarding eucalyptus (in general: specific types of *eucalyptus are not of issue) is, like garlic and other debated ingredients, the cause of notice or concern, of course, and Woof Creek indeed researches deeply and offers clarity with such concerns. So again, thank you for your question.

In the globally trusted resource, The ADR II by Dr. Melissa Shelton DVM, all of the high-grade essential oils in Woof Creek's Flea + Tick Repel Spray are indeed non-toxic to cats and dogs, including *the Eucalyptus Citriodora essential oil (aka ‘Lemon Eucaplyptus’).

That said, Woof Creek always suggests that when using any new ingredient topically or, for consumable ingredients, gradually introduce and observe, as every pet is completely unique, and any ingredient may not be the right fit for a specific pet. Also, reading ingredient labels before purchase/use in conjunction with your knowledge of your unique pet's scenario is recommended.

What this looks like regarding essential oils ('therapeutic,' high-grade) topicals for cats and dogs: hand-apply and start in small areas like at the back of the neck. As you know, cat's groom often, so you would want to give them a light coating and, not daily.

Woof Creek is also a member of the AHVMA, as they always confirm ingredient choices for their formulations. The medical journal access they gain from membership with the AHVMA helps them double check even the guidance they get from their trusted holistic and proactive veterinarians like Dr. Karen Becker, Dr. Judy Morgan, and other wonderful mentors in the industry.

I hope this helps clarify the safety of the eucalyptus in Woof Creek's flea spray.

Not perfect, but best one I found so far

I have sheep and Pyrenees puppies, that are bothered by flies and fleas. I started with Pyranha Zero Bite as a natural spray, but both sheep and Pyrenees do not like it at all. They see the bottle and run away. Then comes Woofcreek Flea and Tick spray. I am only using it on the Pyrenees, on a daily basis, and they do not run away. They generally don't like the spray action, but if I spray it away from the head and then massage it into the fur from back to front, they don't mind it. I also massage it onto the top of their head and their neck area. They love getting their massages. The puppies are still itching, but it is way better than before. I bought the spray bottle and the refill bottle, so we have some time to go to keep trying it and seeing if it continues to be effective.

    Works Great...Smells Nice

I am so thankful for natural products to assist us in keeping our pups protected from pesky, uhm...insects. We use several Woof Creek products in tandem to naturally ward off fleas and ticks. Our pups love the Woof Creek products, which is significant because one of them has a pretty discriminating taste. We are truly delighted with Woof Creek! We put the flea and tick defense spray on them and their stylish bandanas!

Great spray to keep the bugs away

I got this spray because we took our pup hiking for the weekend and ticks have been so bad. It worked! It also smelled better than I expected. Will definitely keep using it.

Feel good defense against pesky pests

Our dachshunds' lowness seems to tempt unwanted pests, so I turn to natural/chemical free products to reduce the temptation. I appreciate the inclusion of neem oil in this spray in conjunction with other proven anti-bug essential oils. One of my dachshunds is anti spray, so I spray the product on my hands and rub it into his fur (he is pro massage, so it works out well).

So far this product has done well for my small 12 yr old Terrier mix. His skin looks great, no fleas & he loves when I rub this spray in his coat.

    Fantastic Product

Love the spray, not to over powering and seems to repel the fleas pretty good. I do not have a tick problem due to the fact my fur baby Isabella does not go outside. I will be keeping this product on hand at all times. Love the fact that it is all natural and no CHEMICALS. This is a big plus for me. Thanks U ...

I love this for my dog

I bought the meal topper for fleas and ticks but wanted extra protection. I have used a name brand scented cedar oil for repelling and killing fleas and ticks but my dog couldn't stand it, the smell is very strong. It also built up in his coat quickly as I apply more frequently in the summertime. He doesn't mind this and the smell isn't as strong. That is a bonus but even bigger is the fact that he doesn't get cedar oil buildup in his hair.

So far I've been using this whenever my dogs are outside for longer periods and it seems to work. I like the scent but, my dogs not so much.

    Flea & Tick Defense

Found this seems to have cut way down on my puppy’s scratching. I actually sprayed a baby washcloth and applied to my puppy's legs before a walk. I put the washcloth in a plastic bag and store in fridge for reuse. Only have to apply first in am then after dinner. Plan to wash once a week.
